STOP!!! Go to Your Seasoning Cabinet Right Now and Throw this OUT!!!
Why Can’t I Lose this Weight!
I feel like I have been trying to lose 20lbs for 10 years. Let’s be real. I am doing something wrong. So I started paying more attention to the foods that I’m eating. I’m 100% Vegan. There is no way I should be having weight issues. That is not real. It is a lie. What you eat no matter who you are matters.
My issues have been consistency… I forget to eat, and by doing that it makes my body hold on to what it can because it doesn’t know when I will get another meal. Facts. So I have to be more consistent about eating.
Next issue, eating foods that are calorie dense. The foods that I decided to eat once I finally got around to eating… were heavy. You can actually eat more and lose more if you focus on foods that are water rich. Why? Because water dilutes the calories allowing you to eat more. I know it sounds crazy but listen… I have been learning more and more ya’ll.
An example… a cup of frickin raisins…. 500 calories. (which is more than a meal in our meal prep). Stay with me…now lets look at a cup of grapes.. (seeded of course) that same cup is only 62 calories!!!!!!!!
YEP. GO BACK AND READ THAT AGAIN!
And the result…both cups will make you feel full but one is WAYYYY HEAVIER!
So pay attention to the foods that you are eating, or they heavy and calorie dense? or Light & Water Rich?
This is Day 6 of the #Faith #Family #Food #Fitness Challenge (Click Here to Learn More #FFFFChallenge) and I am totally trying to make a difference in my body! So join in with me… it doesn’t matter when you start, the blessing is that you just START!
What has been some of the struggles of your weightless journey?
Reply to this post and let me know, and let’s do this together 🙂

Let’s Talk about Protein (Part I)
Understanding Protein
This is a conversation that needs to be had. Protein. Everyone has stuff to say about it, but everyone doesn’t understand how it relates to the purpose of it in your body. Many people will tell you you need it, you can’t have to much of it, but no one ever wants to really tackle making sure that everyone understands and the important functions of protein in your body.
I want to make it as simple as possible for you, for the sake of you being able to remember it.
Proteins are an important part of great health.
- What is a protein:
According to Webster's Dictionary- : protein is any of various naturally occurring extremely complex substances that consist of amino-acid residues joined by peptide bonds, contain the elements carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, usually sulfur, and occasionally other elements (such as phosphorus or iron), and include many essential biological compounds (such as enzymes, hormones, or antibodies)
The name comes from the Greek word proteos - which means Primary or First Place
Hence why proteins are so important, and why understanding what they do for your body is fundamental in understanding the basics of good health and eating.
I really would like to make this short and sweet.. But it is literally inevitable.
From the basics, proteins are made up of amino acids that join together to form long chains. See the pretty picture below?
Here are all the Amino Acids you will never remember.. To help you understand that in this “candy necklace” of aminos, each one has a special role, in a collection of special links that make up what we know as proteins.
There are 20 Amino Acids that form the different proteins in your body. They do most of their work inside the cells and go do different jobs throughout your body..
Here are some of the most essential proteins and duties that illustrate why your body depends on them and how they can benefit you.
Our body needs protein for the growth and upkeep of tissues. Could you imagine getting a scar and your tissue never healing and replacing itself? (gasp)
The body's protein needs are dependent on your health and your activity level. Protein is in a constant state of turnover. Normally your body breaks down the same amount that it uses to build and repair tissues, when it is breaking down more than it creates we have to increase our amount of protein to assist with our body's needs, like when you are sick, or during pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Or if you have an injury or surgery more protein is needed to assist with the healing.
By making sure we’re eating and amassing enough protein for our body, simply put, we’re giving our bodies the ability to do its daily chores and maintenance wherever necessary in our bodies.
Remember, I don’t like to overload you with information. So I want you to use this as food for thought for yourselves today. Do you know what you are eating? Do you know if you are giving your body the protein that it needs to do the many jobs that it fulfills on a daily basis?
Nevertheless, this is just the beginning!!! Tomorrow, we are going to take it a step further, and in the meantime, here is a protein-hefty food that may benefit your diet.
Lentils
The lentil is an edible legume. It is an annual plant known for its lens-shaped seeds and is about 40 cm tall, with seeds that grow in pods.
There are 8 grams of protein per cooked cup (240 ml) of lentils and provide 50% of your daily recommended fiber intake (yes God).... and I’m talking about the good fiber that feeds the healthy bacteria in your colon saints….. That keeps a healthy gut!!!!! That means lentils can help reduce ailments like heart disease, diabetes, obesity and some cancers! So if lentils are not in your diet…. It is time to introduce them. They can be cooked like beans, boil them and use them for soups, salads, stir frys, dahls, everything.
Ok ok.. I don’t want to overwhelm you. Just give you some food for thought..for ya on this glorious day 🙂
Hope it was worth the read. Share this with a friend….there will be more on protein….tomorrow.
This is a pretty important subject, and I want you to understand it.
So until next time. May your tastebuds be…
Forever Satisfied.

Meal Preps Are Here! Are you Ready?
The most asked question in the Cooking with Que inbox..... Do you have Meal Preps! Literally.
I had to take the time to determine what would work because I didn't want to be another "Box" service with food that will last for 7-10 days! That's absolutely ridiculous to me. Like what fresh food do you get out of a garden... and it lasts you for that long! GET OUTTA HERE!
My brain says, if something is supposed to be fresh, you should have to go get another batch sooner than later. I grocery shop a couple times per week. Fresh Kale... Spinach.. Tomatoes those items when they are truly fresh.. don't last for 2 weeks fam! So I wanted to figure out how to make this beneficial for everyone involved. Vegans and Meat Eaters alike. So all my local peeps will have access to pick up or delivery options. I only have spots for 10 Out of State peeps, to let me know how they like getting food every 3-4 days.

Quick Update
Hi Family,
It has been OFF THE CHAIN! We just went into our fourth week of being open and it has been amazing! Like soo amazing. Let me be honest though. The work is real. I've been doing Live Demonstrations, for over 4 years now. Running a new brick and mortar, that we've decided to offer healthy lunch to our community is a whole nothing situation. I know everyone thing that social media tells the real story.. THAT IS A LIE! No one sees the hard work, the long late hours, the crying, the wondering if you are doing things right, the falling forward. None of that. It's legit HARD WORK!
I didn't tell anyone I quit my dream day job on May third, and it got real.....REAL QUICK. But you all know how I roll, if God tells me to go, I'm running. I'm not asking any questions I'm out (and we all know how much I loved my job...okay!!!) Surely, God has something else in store for me. There has been learning curves, hiccups and whatever else you want to call it. but...IT IS WORTH IT! YOU HEAR ME SAINTS!!! IT'S WORTH IT!
WHAT'S COOKING?
Classes start next wee, and for the last month, we have been serving up lunch from 11-2pm. We have a wonderful ever changing menu, but there is always smoothies, salads, and sandwiches. Every Friday we are hosting an event called the Afterwork Wine Down, where you can enjoy your bottle, and our healthy cuisine. Starting in July... get ready for our monthly Chef Battle, and Kitchen Karaoke (info coming soon).
Here is the link to the Transitioning to a Plant Based Lifestyle Classes
Well, I'm pretty sure you will hear from me more now!!!!!!!
Until next time, may your tastebuds be
Forever satisfied!
Que!
